5 MORE Witchcraft Myths DEBUNKED!

There are so many myths surrounding Witchcraft that I had to do a list of 5 more! If you missed the previous 5 Myths Debunked, click here to take a look!

MYTH 1:

You need a teacher to learn how to practice Magick.

Never trust anyone who says, “To perform Magick, you have to listen to me.”

While I do love teaching, this is something you will never hear from me. Magick is a natural process that will find you no matter what. Even if you do not believe in it, you will still experience Magick in your life. And, you can practice it without even knowing it.

Because of how far reaching Magick is, you absolutely do not need a teacher. You can find your path without ANY help from anyone else. In fact, you are probably already on your path without even knowing. Given that you are reading this blog post, I would say you are right where you need to be.

MYTH 2:

Witchcraft is the ONLY way to practice Magick.

Nope. Nope. And nope!

Most people, including me, use Witchcraft as a blanket term. It is actually incorrect to do so, but it makes it easy to talk about Magick as a whole because some people are turned off by the term Magick. This is another way of saying there are other forms of Magick.

You do not have to call yourself a Witch to practice Magick. Some like the label, some don’t. I don’t fault them for that. For some people, calling themselves a Witch is empowering. For others, it is a label that feels abused by common-folk.

You can be a Voodoo Practitioner. You can be spiritual. Call yourself Wiccan, and so on. There are many labels. And, to be fair, you don’t have to adopt any of them! You can just be you and that is perfectly fine.

MYTH 3:

You must worship a Deity to properly practice Magick.

You don’t have to worship anything but positivity to be an effective Witch.

If you have read some of my spell guides, you will know that I mention this tangentially all the time. In my “gratitude” sections that end every spell, I always say: “Thank something.” That something doesn’t have to be a deity. It can be the universe, your own energy, or, obviously, it can be a deity of your choosing.

That’s the thing about Witchcraft: there are very little rules involved. You make your rules within the slight structure. Worship whatever you please!

But remember, stay positive in your practice.

MYTH 4:

Spells are supposed to take effect instantly.

This is most commonly not the case.

While some Magick is more fast-acting than others, most spells can take months to take action. This is, for the most part, on the people who want the spell cast. You see, spells work through energy portals, which we call channels. Most spells (the ones that work anyway 😉) channel the person’s energy through those channels to take effect in the real world.

And, guess what? If you do not provide that energy, the spell will take longer to be effective in your life. In other words, provide the energy for the Magick you would like to happen in your life. Otherwise, there is no energy source.

MYTH 5:

Not everyone can practice Magick.

This is the most untrue of all ten of these myths that I have covered here.

Maybe that doesn’t make sense. All of these are untrue and one false thing can’t be more false than the other, but you get what I mean!

Everyone already practices Magick. I’ll prove it to you with the most “out-there” example.

Magick is defined by its rituals. Rituals are repeated actions designed to make the desires of the mind real. So, say you desire to help a loved one get over a sickness and you perform a ritual at your altar to help them. You are trying to make them healthy by manipulating the energies of the universe.

Now, for the example: What does that make prayer, then? While I know this example may bother some people, but regular prayer (either from Christianity or Islam) is a ritual. Even in the blandest sense of “pleasing God.” They are trying to make their innermost desires a reality. Sounds like a ritual to me.

So, anyone you know practices Magick of some kind, they may just not call it Witchcraft.

Love + Blessings,

Laci
