Dealing With a Withdrawn or Inactive Spirit
It happens to the best of us, even me. So, here are five things you can do when your spirit withdraws.
Why Does This Happen?
Most spirit keepers deal with some form of spirit withdrawal. I prefer the term ‘withdrawal’ to ‘inactive.’ Just because a spirit withdraws, does not mean it is inactive. This process will occur with almost every single spirit you encounter or care for. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not.
The reasoning is not important. And you may be thinking, “Laci, yes the reasoning IS important.”
I’ll tell you why it isn’t:
Spirits do not confine themselves to the rules and habits of humanity. Even former human spirits follow this maxim. Thus, you cannot expect to know their reasoning for withdrawing from you.
For example, say you have a spirit who was very active until recently. You did all the spirit offerings, communication sessions, and made sure you were the best little spirit keeper around. And, yet, the spirit still withdrew.
So many reasons can explain this sudden absence. Maybe you were a little overbearing. Maybe you displayed too much expectant energy in your spirit care. Maybe the spirit was bored. Maybe it wants to explore for a little while. Maybe there was a force expelling it from your home.
You can see where I am going here. The reasons can be in the multitude of thousands. Which means, coming up with a specific reason is not healthy or in the best interest of your time. Sure, you care about these beings. And, I applaud you for that care, but know that these beings have wills of their own. And they do not always match with ours.
It is not your fault (90% of the time)
For the most part, if you are worried about your spirit withdrawing, then you are a good spirit keeper. So, you are likely following all the basics when it comes to spirit care.
And because they see their behavior as normal, they will not understand why you are so upset. Then, they will feel pressured to do something that is outside their nature and—BAM! You got expectant energy shooting at them.
It is a vicious cycle that will repeat itself if you are not careful.
So, what do I do then?
You be patient.
I know that answer is not the one you want to hear. But, imagine an event in your life when patience WAS NOT the answer. I cannot imagine there are many.
Spirits will choose their own path. Even if they are bound directly to you, they have lives of their own. And, as spirit keepers, it is our responsibility to allow them to lead these lives. What else is the purpose of caring for these spirits if we do not allow them to live their lives as they want?
I promise you, as long as you are understanding of them and their ‘eccentricities,’ your relationship with them will blossom astronomically. Like I said, they always come back.
Think of your closest friend. There are times when you have been not-so-close. The same applies to these spirits. They will not always be itching to interact. Sometimes, they need a break.
Since you’re the “expert,” what do you do when a spirit withdraws?
Around 75% of the spirits I receive are withdrawn when I receive them. I do A LOT of rehabilitation to make sure they are ready to go to new homes.
So, to answer the question of what do I do:
I go about the normal routine of spirit care with them. I leave offerings, I hold communication sessions if I am extremely worried (although, most of the time it is unnecessary), and I show them that no matter what I am here for them. I make sure they have energy. Basically, nothing changes with me.
And those are the things I urge you to do. At first it will be hard to do, especially if you are inexperienced with spirit keeping. And I am empathetic to that feeling of helplessness. When I first started spirit keeping, I felt it, too. With experience, though, you will discover that it is a permanent and necessary part of the process.
Plus, the reunion is made so much sweeter when they do being interacting once more.
