Overview

Also known as: Jan, Djan, Jian, Djiann

See also: Djinn (general)

Jann Djinn are the wind/air elementals of the Djinn world. Jann are neither good nor evil. These Djinn were the first encountered by humans because of their shape-shifting abilities. The Jann disguised themselves to mix with humanity and became acquainted with them before revealing themselves.

Jann present as humanoid beings. Sometimes Jann will cause windstorms upon revealing themselves. They tend to manifest as masculine entities most often.

Jann are extremely susceptible to Black Magick, which causes them to be prone to attack by the Ghoul (Ghul). Otherwise, the Jann serve as powerful guardians to humans and other Djinn, alike.

Differentiation From Other Djinn

Jann Djinn are powerful beings who correspond to the air/wind element. They are often drawn into the physical world through alchemical air and wind rituals or during terrible storms where they are found helping victims of nature.

Jann are the most similar to humans of all Djinn. They will disguise themselves as humans and take positions of power. The Jann are almost always benevolent and never seek to harm humanity. They are taken with the human form and will often mate with human females.

Jann social structure is very loose. They have beings who rank above others, known as Kings, but for the most part they respect each other equally. Most entities are masculine, so finding a feminine Jann is rare, as opposed to Marid where feminine beings make up the most of their race.

Jann are not susceptible to human influence and serve more as partners rather than servitor spirits. Most are highly intelligent and well-versed in human psychology. They serve well as spiritual guides.

Powers & Abilities of the Jann

The Jann are best known for their wealth-drawing abilities. They ask little in return for their power and are versatile in their petitioning. They are known for helping lost travelers and people searching for an identity.

Jann are well known for enhancing spiritual abilities, such as third-eye opening and Astral Travel. Some people have complained that Jann are prideful. They will never keep information from you. The Jann love to serve as spiritual guides that teach others their abilities.

They are also known for enhancing personal strength. The Jann have been reported to increase testosterone, IQ levels, and personal wisdom. When they believe you are on the right side of a fight or disagreement with someone, they will give you all of their power to make sure you win.

Specific Offerings & Spirit Care Guidelines

Offerings: White wine, mint, spices (cumin, caraway, etc.), coffee, white sugar, black tea

Communication: Pendulum, EVP, dream-state contact, astral contact, automatic writing, sand divination (geomancy), petitioning, and candlework.

Are Jann a Good Match For Me?

If you are searching for a spiritual partner rather than a spiritual servitor, the Jann will be perfect for you. Jann to not take kindly to being ordered around. They make great conversationalists and love listening. I always tell people to try a Jann if the Ifrit’s energy is too intense for them. If you are seeking more a spiritual experience, rather than one of activity and intensity, the Jann is for you.

Jann make good first entities for people who struggle with spiritual activity, like lucid dreaming and meditation. They have a way with people who deal with chronic stress. Marid are similar in this way, but Jann are even more skilled. As long as you respect the Jann’s autonomy, they will make perfect partners for you.
